First transfer but I stay in Garfield

July 22, 2013

Well i feel like i just talked to yall just a little bit ago, but i don't mind :) first things first :) i didn't get transferred so i am still in Garfield, well passaic but I'm living in Garfield! So send everything there and it will get to me faster! DAD i got your post card... I CRIED! I LOVED IT!! THOSE MAKE MY WHOLE WEEKS! Thursday was transfer planning/cleaning, and weekly planning so that was a day where i just stayed in ALL DAY! and we just planned and cleaned!

Friday was literally the HOTTEST DAY OF MY EXISTENCE ON EARTH. 111 degrees with 100 humidity, well seriously just our luck that at 2 o clock the member fed us the HOTTEST soup and the HOTTEST spaghetti dish... Me and my comp. were just dripping sweat through out all of the meal.. like it was embarrassing and unreal! NO ONE HAS AIR CONDITIONING!! but the day was good, i had to go on splits with the English sister cause sister m. is sick, and it was good i contacted someone and taught them a lesson right on the street!! it was cool!

The elders asked me that night to speak at a baptism the next day... OH Gosh i was so nervous!!! The next day is Sunday! WELL i woke up and tried preparing some of my talk, meaning not only preparing it in English, but ALSO translating it in Spanish! GOSHHH IT IS SO HARD! But church went okay, i felt sick through out it but i knew i needed to give a talk so i just stuck it out! Well the baptism was great, i never felt the spirit so strong.. As i saw this guy Mitchell who i had never met before, but i saw him get in the water and he was getting baptized i just cried because holy cow it means so much to me now. It is amazing how much a mission changes someone, and like there out look on the gospel and how much everything truly starts to mean to me. But as he was changing one of the members asked if i would get up and speak for like a few minutes to pass time... IN SPANISH!!!! i was SO NERVOUS!!!!!! i just bore my testimony, ended up crying, and i know they couldn't understand a word of it but whatever! hahah then right after when he got back i gave my talk about the holy ghost in Spanish :) The Spirit was strong and he was so excited to be baptized i loved it! Funny part though.. after me and my comp went up to him and said congrats and he straight up HUGGED US!!!! We literally stood there and the elders like ran towards him and was like Mitchell no you can not hug!!! They had to like push him back!! It was so funny!!!  I laughed! haha Sunday just kept getting better. So me and sister Atkinson went out and did contacting, you all know i hate contacting, well i myself contacted 16 different people! In those 16 different people i got rejected 6 times, contacted someone while she was on the phone, contacted someone literally right after he threw up, contacted 4 guys smoking, who then asked me if i could go out and party with them later.. it was weird we were all the same age, i contacted people from Poland and Macedonia.. i don't know how to spell that but i also went out of my way and crossed the street to contact the rudest lady of my life!!! I JUST MADE IT A GOAL THAT I WOULDN'T PASS ANYONE WITHOUT TALKING TO THEM! and guess what I DID IT!! I actually don't mind contacting.  BUT SUNDAY WAS GREAT! I am great, i am missing you all, but loving it here :) i love every single one of you! Cant wait for my package! I HAVE THE BEST FAMILY IN THE WORLD!!!

ps- oh my gosh Jon is home I loved seeing pictures of HIM AND MITCHY!! im so glad he looks happy! I sure love my Lyon family, send them my love and tell jonny HOLA AMIGO!!!

Okay love you all!!!

My week is full of surprises!!

July 17, 2013

okay well WOW what a week!!!
Just to start my week of perfect, Me and 3 other sisters walk out of the library and these 2 guys pull us aside.. literally and want to talk to us. They just started going off how we are so wrong and we aren't a true church, we don't know Jesus Christ, we don't know anything, we are pretty much of the devil. One of the guys literally just started naming off every single verse in the bible as if we were impressed.. They just sat there and wouldn't even let us get a word in for at least 25 minutes.. we just started walking away because they were being so rude. We asked them what they were and they were born again Christians. We just told them we believe in Christ yadyadad we had to go, and they were just getting in our faces.. of course i am just like why the heck am i here?!!! But we just said have a good day and walked away and they said may Jesus bless you, the RIGHT Jesus... my heart legitimately hurt.. like what the heyyy you do not tell me I'm not christian.. LIKE HELLO MY NAME TAG SAYS JESUS CHRIST BIGGER THAN MY ACTUAL NAME. Holy cow!!

Then it was Tuesday and Sister Weinstock and I, my companion from the mtc had to go on an exchange and I had to run the area!! Meaning I was in charge of what we did, who we saw, and like taking lead in discussions.....Well both of us have been out for 4 weeks.. Do you think we speak Spanish? Or that i KNOW my area?!! NOOO!! Man i was SOOO nervous!! BUT do not fear! I did great :) It was so nice to have my old comp back, it just felt comfortable! We taught 3 different people ALL IN SPANISH! I TAUGHT THE WHOLE PLAN OF SALVATION TO A DOMINICAN FAMILY! You have no idea how fast they talk... it was absolutely unreal. We taught Peruvians, Dominicans, and Colombians that day!

Last Wednesday we had zone conference which I absolutely loved, i bore my testimony in front of like 60 elders and sisters!! Woahhh Hermana Jorgz is gettin all spiritual and what not! haha It was all about the Book Of Mormon, cause you know what i LOVE THE BOOK OF MORMON. Thursday was walking day. it was interesting. We taught this man in the park the whole restoration and committed him to read the BOM. We gave it to him and i asked him to pray about if the BOM was true right there.. He did for like I'm being dead serious 6:27 minutes.. I timed it because it was a silent prayer cause he was to nervous and we were sitting there forever!!! After he just put his fingers in the BOM and opened to a random page and he started reading.. Me and my comp were so nervous it was going to be one of those scriptures that just like didn't make sense!! BUT he read nephi 3:5 go read it! It was awesome! Right after we left the park and just stopped on the side of the road and said a prayer and asked for forgiveness because we lacked in faith in him opening to a good scripture!! Later that day we were walking to another appointment and these 3 people stopped us in front of their house they are from the DR. One of the guys was clearly drunk. The girl though was actually interested in our message. We started talking to them about our message and then the girl just really wanted to know so we started talking to her, but the other guy kept asking me questions so I started answering them. He kept asking me if i could marry a man of "color" or is that not allowed in the church? I was like no it is. He asked If i was allowed to marry a man of color, i said yeah if i wanted to. He asked if my dad would allow me to marry a man of color, i was like yeah if i was in love.. I started feeling weird. He kept hinting to me that he wanted us to get married and that I was so beautiful, then he asked where we lived and we didn't tell him, I started feeling a little nervous. So we started leaving because we had an appointment. We walked around the corner and I turn around and HE IS FOLLOWING US. My heart dropped instantly and i just held on to my companion.. He followed us for 20 minutes... We told him to stop we feel uncomfortable and he finally did but he wouldn't unless i gave him my number.. I refused so we gave him the number to receive a free BOM instead and he bought it. BUT I WAS SO SCARED!!!! New Jersey is CRAZY!

Okay so now it is Friday... well LONGEST DAY OF MY LIFE. No one to teach. Literally. So we go knocking doors. It was like the end of the day, I'm just tired, discouraged, sweating.. because you know New Jersey COULD NOT BE HOTTER! Anyways we knock on a door and this really nice lady let us in. We started singing I'm a child of God in Spanish and me and my comp heard a noise we instantly kind of looked at each other and looked nervous cause we knew there was a husband here!! He comes literally like marching out from the back of the house and stops us and starts speaking in English.. HE JUST ANNIHILATED US FOR 35 MINUTES. He just went on and on about how we weren't christian and he kept trying to get us to say the name Joseph Smith so he could just bash him but me and my comp would not. He wouldn't sit down once, like his face was red. He looked at me and was like honey you look scared.. and i said you know what i am scared! The spirit isn't here and i don't feel comfortable.. He was like oh no we aren't fighting do you want some water? I WAS LIKE WHAT?!!!! His wife tried sticking up for us but he just would put her down to.. I felt so bad. Me and my companion asked if we could leave but before we asked his religion.. guess what he said... YEAH BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN!!! Oh my they do not like us!! He told us as we were leaving he was just trying to save our souls and he said don't take offense but the work you are doing is worthless and we are wasting our time spreading false doctrine. Let me just put in a side note.. He was maybe 5'3" you KNOW i could of taken him!!! Anyways we left and i just started crying because in all honesty i have never met a more mean human.. Like he just was the rudest person ever! We went home and read the BOM for like 45 minutes cause we needed it!

Now it is Saturday! Today I was a little homesick I don't know why.  But that night Sister Larsen and i had to teach an English class in Passaic at the chapel! WOW do you know how hard that is? I don't even know Spanish so how can i teach these people Spanish when I can't understand their native language! Anyways it went well! Then we had correlation, that's just where the elders in our ward and us and the ward mission leader meet together to discuss ways to help! But we went home that night and Sister Morrison, an English speaking sister that we live with, was on the floor SCREAMING and crying... SO we picked right up and drove to Hoboken to the emergency room. She had to get a lot of tests done. My comp and I left the hospital at 11 we were so tired.. Well it is so busy and confusing in New jersey, who knows how but we ended up driving in a tunnel for a while.. I turned to my companion and was like uhhh there are a lot of cars with licence plates of New York... Well we get out of the tunnel and in really big letters it says WELCOME TO MANHATTAN.... OH MY GOSH. If you drive out of your area like your mission area you get red dotted which means you cant drive anymore!!! We were freaking out! First of all we have never been up this late in the past 3 months, and now it is 12 o clock and we are in NYC!!! OH my gosh!!! Stressed beyond belief. Well we end up finding our way backk... just our luck we run into traffic... A concert just got out and we were in a 6 lane highway that moved to a 1 lane highway... 2 HOURS LATER! WE GOT HOME AT 2:30!!! That isn't even the end of the stress we had to wake up at 6:30 and go right back to the hospital so i could switch out Sister A ( Sister Morrison's comp) I was there ALL Sunday. She had surgery that day, she had an appendicitis! I was up for a total of 46 hours with only 4 hours of sleep... I WAS SO TIRED!!! I got the sacrament in the hospital though, from some elders, it was very cool.

Now here goes just yet another story from my mission... WELL so another patient gets moved in to the other half of the room next to Sister Morrison, and they are Spanish! Her whole family walks in and I'm excited I'm like wow dang I'm going to give them a BOM! SO I start talking to them in Spanish shocking myself of course, and I was talking to this guy, they are from Mexico. He told me he was like 52 i don't know why, and he kept saying his sister is getting jealous of him talking to me.. I could really understand.. Anyways he kept saying wow you are really really really pretty... i just felt uncomfortable so i went back and sat down. He came over and talked to me and I gave him a BOM and asked for his address and number so the other missionaries could teach him, he didnt know other missionaries would teach him, i think he thought it was me, but he continued to like hit on me.. I felt so uncomfortable.. Of course sister Morrison couldn't do anything she was just knocked out.. Then they were getting ready to leave and I was just reading my BOM as he walks passed me he put his hand out for like a hand shake and like kind of held my hand for a while and just told me i was really beautiful and he hasn't seen anyone like me.. I didn't even know how i felt, i just prayed that he would leave.. After he left I felt like pretty good because I gave him a BOM and got his info for the other elders, but i know he was only interested because of like me... It just made me sick to my stomach.. Well Sister Larsen came back and switched me so i could go home and sleep and she stayed the night. Monday was nicer, it was a day i got to sleep in and relax! We all met up as a zone at a park that over looked all of NYC and New Jersey, it was a place thousands of people went and watched the towers fall.. There was a memorial site, it was very cool. But we all just played sports and stuff! I was the only sister that played football with the Elders, HOLLA! The past 2 days i have just been busy as ever taking care of Sister Morrison and stuff... Bottom line is, I am having fun, I am LIVING THE LIFE OF A MISSIONARY!!! It sure is hard but i love it!
At the hospital with Sister Morrison, post surgery.

2 weeks of Jersey life and loving it.

June 26- July 6th, 2013

Okay family! HELLO. What a crazy time it has been out here! It is literally SOOO hottttt out here it is absolutely insane. It hit 100 degrees with 93 percent humidity.. seriously.. what a joke!

Ill just start out with not this past Tuesday but the one before! We had district meeting and I got a blessing so that I could learn the language better, it was a nice blessing! I am slowly understanding the language, well some days. Some days I'm like wow I understand and some days I'm like you are kidding what the heck are you all blabbing about!!  Wednesday I fasted for my language! It was  LONG day, maybe just cause i was fasting i don't know but i was out proselyting from 1-9.. holy cow what?!! Thursday was good, it is walking day! We taught an investigator from Peru, which went okay. That Friday I forget what we did I just know that my testimony was strengthen a lot. Everyday it is but especially that one day!

Saturday we woke up and studied on top of this type of cliff place that over looked like all of new jersey, and we could see the skyline! All of New York! It was very pretty, then after we ran and worked out up there! SO greennn!!! It was kind of hard to study up there though because i would see all the planes take the same exact route to Newark and there was always Southwest planes and i would just sit and look at them, and my companions would be like HEY STOP GETTING HOMESICK! Look at your BOM!! haha cause they know I get homesick when i see the planes!

Later that night we had a branch activity where we watched these mission videos, of course in Spanish so i had no idea what was going on, and everyone was there and the ward mission leader asked me to bear my testimony in front of everyone in Spanish... WHAT?!  I swear i was going to throw up right then! haha but I did it, it was short and sweet! Sunday was a good day! We had mission council in the morning.. and guess who got asked to speak the next sunday.. yeah ME!! So whoop there it goes! haha They are going to be laughing so much on Sunday cause I don't know a thing!

Dad you should tell me when you fly to Newark like the day and time sometime so I can find you in the sky!!! That would be fun :)  So I had a lot of time to day dream on Sunday for some reason, and the only things i was to do when i get back is go on a date with dad, go to cross fit and Costco with mom, I actually WANT to play tennis with bubba, Shocking I know, Baby I just want to be with you all the time, and Lexi... i just was to talk for hours about everything we have done! In reality I just want us to watch family movies together and be together 24/7 if you ask me what heaven sounds like right now, that is what i would say!!

In all seriousness! My favorite thing about mission conference was when Elder Packer said," I know Him" WHAT!!! I feel like all the apostles are admitting that they have seen Jesus Christ! That means either they are dying, which in this case i feel like elder packer is dying OR that the Second Coming is literally right around the corner!!

So sorry I couldn't email on Monday! It was so crazy the whole doctor thing was craZy long and then we had a skit practice as a zone for the all mission party! Umm So my ear is okay it is definitely pretty much healed but now it is my jaw, so i am on a liquid diet... yeah it is so fun. not. If it is an infection which is a possibility which is very low, then I would have to see a dentist.. BUT seriously don't worry about anything family, I'm in the Lords hands :)

Tuesday was just another day of proselyting, I ate So much food. We had back to back food apts... The second person fed us a very common dish in Peru where she is from, it was a layer of potatoes with a layer of mayonnaise then a layer of mayonnaise and tuna mixed with a layer of potatoes with a layer of mayonnaise... please tell that doesn't just sound like SO DELICIOUS to you as well? Oh and a half of a plate of white rice... Then Wednesday was the party! ALL the missionaries in New Jersey Morristown Mission all got together and we played volleyball, football, soccer, kickball, and dodge ball! After we all performed skits had lunch, and then heard from the Manhattan Temple President! I saw Evan there, and Braden of course! It was very fun our mission president is SO fun!!!

Okay Yesterday.. WOW such a long day!! I was In New York City! We drove to Jersey city and hopped on the metro to the 9/11 Memorial cite where we got tickets and walked around, it kind of made me homesick because i saw exactly where we stood and took a picture in the church across the street where the cemetery was? Do you remember? Then after we went to the memorial cite. We went and hopped on the metro and went to the temple for 6 hours!!!!!!!! ! It is SO PRETTY!!! Oh my goodness we all have to come back and go :) After we hopped on the metro and went to time square!! Brought back some good ol memories!! Then we went back to Jersey city, went to applebees, and then drove home!!! SUCH A LONG DAY! but i LOVED it! Today is Friday, and it is SO HOT but I'm still doing the normal stuff just teaching the gospel! OH also i get to go to Ellis island on Monday for orientation so we can work!! WE GET TO WORK THERE SOON!! Sister Dunning told me she talked to you mom, she is literally the FUNNIEST lady ever!!! I know you are with all the Jorgz fam in Wisconsin, and i couldn't be more jealous!! TELL EVERYONE I LOVE THEM! I THINK ABOUT THEM NO JOKE ALL THE TIME.!!
