Smashed platanos and luke warm salami!

September 23, 2013

For every corner there is a church.. for every church there is a Dunkin donuts... for every dunkin donuts there is a person (who eats the donuts)... for every person there are GEESE. and this my beloved family is what I call NEW JERSEY! Any one wanna come and stay for a year and a half?!  JK I love it! But i will not lie there is an uncontrollable about of donut eating people, churches, and geese! hahah

This week has been good! It is terrible COLD in the mornings! Getting a little nervous cause then i cant run so how will I work out but... oh well I guess.. Its like where was fall? Non existent in the East Coast! haha Goodness I have funny stories but none that I believe are worth sharing!

This week I just had the privilege to work with a lot of members and do service! On Saturday we had the opportunity to pick up trash from all around and a lot of the missionaries came, Evan Traasdahl was there and BRADEN! soooo goood to see them! Every time I see them I get a little taken back because I mean I have been here from almost 5 months not seeing anyone I know and then its like WHOAH hey Braden! just on my mission and there is my friend.. haha WE LOVE IT! Also I got to see sister Larsen man do i miss her... SHE WAS GREAT!

Sunday was great it was district conference in English and Spanish.. weirdest thing of my entire life!! haha having translators... super weird! But it was great! There are 14 full time missionaries in this branch and we all got up and sang with the primary "i hope they call me on a mission" in Spanish and English and as well we got to sing with the youth "we are as the army of Helaman" and I'm not gonna lie i started tearing up during that song because there was such a spirit in that room as we sang that. It was very cool to me because everyone hopes or wants or waits to go on their mission... and i am here! I am A MISSIONARY! President Jeppson wrote all of us and said , " i have sung in the Tabernacle choir for numerous years and have felt the spirit there, but there is no spirit like the one i felt when the Lords missionaries were singing those songs." It was true! I loved it! After I sat down next to this member in my ward, Kat, whom i love with all my heart. She helps me so much! Shes like 26 and has been a member for 3 years! But i sat down and she leaned over to me and said, " i promised myself i wouldn't get attached to anymore missionaries because it is so hard when they leave, but sister jorgs, i am going to cry when you leave. You will leave a hole in my heart that no one can fill...." I JUST DIED! It started to make me really sad to think that i could get transferred.. in 2 months hahah... but i could get transferred and it is just showing me how much I really love the people out here...

Sorry such a short week but hey I love you all.  Anyways I'm doing great. You all sound like you are just loving life and enjoying it all, especially you dad, stop having so much fun :) kidding! bubba and baby... i miss you guys... i love you all! Stay spiritually strong! Fight off Satan.. Man if i've learned anything out here i have learned that SATAN IS REAL! but we can withstand his temptations.. as Stevo Montgomery would say, " Get thee hence Satan."hahah I never forget when he said that! LOVE YOU ALL!! xoxxx

smashed platanos... a whole plate full.. with luke warm salami..

me picking weeds! Me, Kat, Nahommy, and i forget the other girls name :) haha

It rained and poured here

September 16, 2013

Hola family! This past week has been good! Not a lot happened just the same old same old! I went to Ellis island this past week and met someone from HENDERSON! You KNOW I flipped... hahah I almost had a cow I was so happy... I'm not fortunate enough like Lexi to be having EVERYONE AND THEIR DOGS VISIT HER! hahaha so when I find someone that lives remotely close I just lose it!

i saw this weird hover helicopter thought of pres and dad :)

It rained like crazy here on Thursday why? oh cause it was WALKING DAY. yeahhh worst.. We started walking to an appt. and it just down poured so hard it was actually UNSAFE! We tried calling 4 members to come get us cause we were actually stuck because it flooded so bad so fast... We ended up taking our shoes off and running very unsafe but we made it home. We weren't supposed to but we had to use the car to get to an appt. cause there was no other way to get to their house, it was sweet karma because my companion rolled my fingers up in the window... YEAH OW! don't worry I'm okay :) Its starting to get cold here... I HATE IT!

We went to a members house, the BRAVOS from Mexico, seriously my favorite family in the branch, and we made tortillas with her! She reminds me of aunt Arlene so much! Where exactly is aunt Arlene from? what city? We also got a referral from her! So now we have a new investigator her friend! She is like 24 and has 5 kids.... WHAT?!! insane! But we went and taught a lesson with hermana bravo to her friend and it went well! It might be a struggle to get them to church cause she has 5 kids and the husband is non existent at the time. Well he is there but we don't know exactly anything about him!

I love my companion, she is great! She is helping me a lot with Spanish, some days I feel like it comes, and others I'm just like I CANT DO THIS! But I am getting it! I understand it way more than I speak it!

I have been learning a lot lately! Just like about the gospel in general. Something that really sticks out to me is you just cant be good in this world anymore, you HAVE to be the BEST. You cant just go to church because you know you should, you shouldn't just read the scriptures because you have to and so on and so on, but you HAVE to go to church with real intent of asking for forgiveness during the sacrament, you HAVE to study your scriptures.. like STUDY them. Learn from them and apply them to your life because just going through the actions of the gospel will get you no where if you don't have a real intent while doing them. That is just a little thing that I have learned out here, something that clearly i got called unto repentance for. hahah I emailed Brooke markie and makenna and told them that, I kind of went all spiritual on them and called them unto repentance.. hahah hey its what we do as missionaries :)

GOOD SPENCER IS GETTING MARRIED!! I was starting to get a little nervous, like maybe i needed to extend my mission and give him more time! hahah kidding! She looks adorable :) You tell him CONGRATS! Aubsie sounds like she is just livin large and lovin life! Pressy sounds like he is just killin it in tennis, bubba im proud of you for not playing on Sunday. You will become 10 times better for not! DAD your knee... im so sorry! I guess thats what happens when you start getting old... I'm mean hello you are almost 49... Which in reality is almost 50!!!!! OH PS CANT WAIT FOR YOUR 50TH BIRTHDAY DAD! YOU KNOW ILL BE HOME :) wouldn't wanna miss that party for the world... haha MOM you sound busy still sheesh take a break lex and i are gone just RELAX little lady! I miss everyone very much, think about you constantly but sure wouldn't change where i am at right now for the world! I hope you all have a great week! Hey, this gospel is true :)

love. Hermana Jorgensen Dos (always the second) xoxx.

BU, me, and my new companion

September 4, 2013

OKAY HELLO. THIS WEEK. OH MAN I HOPE YOU ARE JUST READY TO Hear THIS. So oh first things first i got the package. The bag is just perfect, the candy just perfect, the letters perfect, the skirt perfect, mother you are just perfect thank you!!!!! oh also the target gift card... LOVE IT!!!   Bubba also you are so sweet thank you for writing me that letter, your cursive looks like BOMB DIGITY!! super good!!!!

Okay so this week, as you know, was TRANSFERS!! More like just ANXIETY!! hahah goodness okay so i got a new companion, Sister Garn. She is great! She is so bomb! She already knows Spanish like a boss. She has been out 2 transfers ahead of me! She lived in Guatemala for 6 months and Ecuador for 1 so yeah she really knows Spanish! Well that's not the part that gives me anxiety! The part that gives me anxiety is that sister Larsen (my old companion) left and i am the one who is staying here running the area! Meaning i have to show her everyone here like introduce her to the members and pretty much teach the lessons cause i know everyone even though we are supposed to be doing like companion unity, it didn't really go that way this week! Only i have been teaching, and shocking myself to say the least i kind of know Spanish!! KIND OF! okay also got anxiety cause of the car we have. It is broken, it is straight up the oldest car in the whole mission. 2008 Malibu... EVERY PAIR OF ELDERS HAVE HAD THAT CAR. That car is a legend in ever elders eyes seriously. They always say to me ohhh mann you got the "BU" YOU ARE SO LUCKYY!! Well why am i lucky? Cause we have a tiwi in our car and all the other cars 2013 Subaru's get speeding violations and aggressive drivings really easily, but the "BU" doesn't. So that also means that The car has been WRECKED!! Because the elders would have competitions to see who could get the most aggressive drivings in that car! Sister Larsen and i have taken the car in like 5 times to get fixed.. well 3 days before transfers we went and got it fixed which it cost 957 dollars... what? So you would think it would be fixed after we have just spent so much money on it well no.... okay NOW for the real story! Just got my new comp. First 10 minutes in the car, always just a little awkward cause its like uhh hi we are about to be the best of friends for the next 3 months whether we want to or not, and i have no idea who you are hahha. So we are in the car driving home and i am telling her about the car and how its a legend and how it has problems seriously as i am telling her there is a draggin noise... I'm like oh freak... Well we had to pull over on the freeway... we look and the front bumper is just DRAGGIN!!! oh my gosh! So umm yeah neither of us know anything about cars, so what do we do? Who do we call? Our parents? NO!! So i call the zone leaders... hahaha They just LOVE ME!! NOT!! haha seriously I'm in the same branch as the zone leaders for the past 3 months and for the next 3 months so they know me quite well and let me tell you i don't think they are quite use to sisters being like me just yet... Because before they had 16 sisters in this entire mission all over the age of 21... hahah and oh HI I'M 19 OUT OF CONTROL!! Well i call them and they tell us to inch off of the freeway so we inch off the free way into Newark.. well its like 8 at night 2 sisters in Newark... hahah NOT SAFE!! So coincidence i think not when i say we pulled off the freeway right into a car wash place! We pulled into that, sent the elders the address cause we weren't allowed to be there by ourselves. So i got out of the car and asked one of the guys if they could fix our car... or more so just tell us what the heck we should do... He was like oh let me just fix it temporarily... He put ZIP TIES ON OUR BUMPER... hahahha WHAT?!!! talk about a serious temporary fix... hahhaa well it was just a little awkward that the zone leaders show up and the car is fixed.... uhhh ahha whoops sorry zone leaders just wasted your time, miles, and gas just to come and say hi to us in Newark!!! Well first anxiety moment with the new comp. OVAAA!!!

OKAY! NOW well here's the real GOOD STORY! Seriously too great. This would happen to me.. like this is just so typical. Okay so Hermana Larsen and i contacted this guy like 6 weeks ago on the street and have been teaching him. He told us that he met with sister missionaries 6 years ago and has been to church before.. well this is as much as we could understand. So we had been teaching him for like 5 weeks and we had already taught him the restoration, the plan of salvation, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We would teach him with folletos (pamphlets) and whenever we would come back to talk about them he had been really reading them and underlining and also reading the BOM. He said he knew that the BOM was true and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and so on... TALK ABOUT A GOLDEN INVESTIGATOR... so we thought.. Well i always felt a little weird like kind of like how can he be progressing that fast and that well yadyadyada. So i was excited to bring my new comp Hermana Garn because she could really understand and tell if he would be ready to be baptized the 15th of September. WELL so we are in the lesson teaching him repentance, and we are really going over repentance so he can REALLY repent! ya know thats all we do out here on the mish call EVERYONE AND THEIR CAT UNTO REPENTANCE!!! even ourselves :) haha okay anyways so we teach him and at the end hermana garn was like so Edgar do you feel like you will be ready to be baptized the 15th? He was like oh i need to be baptized again? She was like well in another church they didnt have the proper authority of God yadyada he was like no like i was already baptized. She was like by the immersion of water, and then confirmed by the laying on of hands for the holy ghost? He said yeah... He was like i was baptized IN THE PASSAIC LDS CHURCH.... she looked at me... WHAT?!!!! I STRAIGHT UP COVERED MY FACE AND JUST LAUGHED...  i was like what? It was SOOO EMBARASSING! He goes yeah remember i told you that like the first time we met? I was like... uhhhhhh hahahahah WELP LANGUAGE BARRIER! whoop there it is!! Nope didnt understand! SOOO now we are looking for his records, and they cant be found in the church. So now we have to send in his information to Salt Lake to see if they have his records, and if they don't then he has to be baptized again!! (crossin my fingas yall) haha I mean either way We found a less active and have reactivated him, or if we don't have his records we got a "baptism" wooo hooo! haha So embarrassing had to go to ward council and tell everyone the story.. cause ya know Ive only been talking about him for like a month or so about how he is an investigator so on and so on.. and he isn't!!!!!!!!!! DAY IN THE LIFE OF HERMANA JORGENSEN WHO CANT SPEAK SPANISH!!! Missions hahaha i don't even know what to think of themm.... maybe its just me though.. its always interesting missionaries always say that they have never had "fun" on their missions until they met me.... haha welll sorry i take after my father... LIFE IS A PARTYY!!! heavens yeah sooo I'm doing great feeling so loved from everyone so far away!!

oh i love you all so much... gosh what i would give to just give you all a hug!!!! xoxxxx

I finished the Book of Mormon for the first time

August 26, 2013

Hello everyone,
Last Thursday morning was so BEAUTIFUL, I had seriously never seen so much lightning in my life.  Boy do they have bi polar weather here, i guess that's why they aren't a desert.

I had to give a talk yesterday( for 15 minutes!) On Christ like attributes, everyone said it was good, but it was HARD!! But hey i did it! Spanish still stinks but whatever! I love learning it though! I hope I'm getting better.

Last night it was like 8:15 and me and my comp went to a less actives house. Her door was in the dark and we were knocking on her door and she didn't answer. We started walking away but we heard a guy yell, so I looked back but i didn't see anyone. We kept walking and he yelled again, but i still couldn't see anyone.. We started walking faster, and this guy and another guy come out of the dark and are straight up calling us and chasing us... ME AND MY COMP BOOKED IT ACROSS THE STREET TO WHERE THERE WAS LIKE 5 OTHER PEOPLE... we got in our car and just about died... once the guys saw other people they booked it down like a different street... it was the weirdest thing... I've never been so thankful to be in our car.

Oh today August 26th, 2013 is the day I finished The Book Of Mormon for the first time in my whole entire life. There is this "mountain" here that over looks like all of new jersey and like all of new york city, and i sat on top of the cliff and finished the BOM!!!! After i just sat there and prayed to know if it was true, and IT IS!!! THE BOOK OF MORMON IS TRUE!!! WHO WOULD OF THOUGHT Y'ALL?!! I love that book with all my heart. So over all this week was one of the best/hardest/most draining/ most rewarding week of my whole mission! Can you believe I've almost been out 4 months!!!!! WOW!!!

I love you all

Madonna's Multicultural Funeral Home

August 12, 2013

OKAY HELLO!!! ALREADY HAS BEEN ANOTHER WEEK! WOW! no the time isn't getting any faster i just said that so you guys would think that i think that the time is speeding up! hahaha wow im funny! anywaysss!

CRAZY STORIES ALL AROUND!!
Alright how great is this. Tuesday night we get a call from our branch president and he is like can you sisters go to this funeral it is for a less actives mother. Of course we said yeah. So we show up to the funeral home. The name of the funeral home is "Madonnas Multi Cultural Funeral Home".... Awkward right off the bat. Like what do we have to claim that it is multi cultural? Like what does it matter?! OF COURSE IT WILL BE MULTICULTURAL NO ONE IS AMERICAN HERE!!!  So we show up its raining so we are slightly damp.. As we walk in EVERYONE LOOKS AT US. Here we go. 1. It was a Spanish funeral. 2. No one spoke our language. 3. People looked at us like you girls are in the wrong place. 4. Everyone was sobbing. 5. The deceased is just sitting right in front of us. 6. I was trying so hard not to laugh because like it was the most uncomfortable/awkward thing of my life! Okay so we are sitting in the seats and no one approaches us... weird right?! Ive never even met the less active lady whose mom died, and my companion has only seen her like twice so we couldn't even find her.. (she wasn't even there yet) We sat there for 35 minutes and our branch president walked in, literally thanked my Father In Heaven. Well he gets there and he is like where are the elders? We didn't know. They were supposed to  be there but they didn't show up... SO we wait 20 more minutes keep in mind everyone is just sobbing and we are the only white girls... who don't speak Spanish!! So its now 50 minutes later the president was like okay we will start the service. We have to go to the front of everyone (NONE OF THEM WERE MEMBERS OF THE LDS FAITH) so as we go to the front the elders finally walk in. Again i thanked my Heavenly Father because it was getting a little uncomfortable! President started the funeral service and says as he is up there that the missionaries will be singing " How Great Thou Art" for them... in Spanish... ACAPELLA. HAHAHAHAH WHAT?!!!!! YOU ARE LITERALLY KIDDING. We all stood up and just MURDERED IT. After One of the elders got called up to say the opening prayer and didn't even know the name of the deceased and in the prayer he was like, "I'm thankful for... (paused for like 1 minute literally) this sister... " Seriously MISSIONARY WORK IS SO AWESOME!!! never in my life would i go to a Spanish funeral for someone i didn't know and just sing a church hymn in there language... GOD BLESS SERVICE!!

Thank you for everything i felt so much love this week! A letter from the Goodfellows and Stevo... I LOVE THEM! ALSO the Morgans... I MISS OUR WARD. We have such a solid ward.  Tell aunt Kimmy i love her and thank you for the letter, and Kaleb's talk was incredible! who is he?!! Not the same Kaleb i remember!!

hmmm well the work is pretty slow here i guess. We had 3 investigators.. The dad was a member but the mom is not. He has 4 kids one girl who is 16, two boys who are 13 and 9, and then a baby. We had all the kids with a date for baptism. besides the baby.. Well we saw them Monday, and had an appointment Thursday.  We were going to check on their reading Wednesday and they didn't answer so we left a stick note.. We came back the next day no one was there so we left a sticky note. We came back the next day and NO ONE WAS THERE. Well we were driving by on Saturday and we saw the 13 year old Steven outside and we pulled over and talked to him, his mom and siblings were coming down the road so we waited! We said we wanted to come visit them and asked where they have been... OH WELL THEY ARE MOVING! Saturday morning they all moved. In a matter of 3 days they picked up and left... that happens all the time here. Missionaries told me that people do that here but i didn't believe them... Well NOW I DO!! So the work is hard and slow but we are trying to do our best!  I LOVE THIS MISSION. IT IS HUMBLING AND IS GIVING ME A CHANCE TO CHANGE. I NEED TO. i love the support that i have out here from you all. Bubba how was your bday? Did you get our card and presents? Baby your pictures and everything just made my life!  Landon went into the mtc in Mexico today how exciting.  alright i love you guys!!!! seriously thank you for everything you do for me. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. xoxxx

District Bowling day.

How cute is she?

I had to speak at a baptism of the Elder's again.  President Jeppsen came! NERVOUS!

Her name is Melina and she is in our ward.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing

August 5, 2013

alright HELLO FROM HERMANA JORGENSEN WHO COULDN'T BE MORE JEALOUS OF YOU BOTH!!! i

wonder what it would be like to just frolic along Europe on a nice cruise ship!!! PROBABLY NICER THAN ME SITTING HER IN NEW JERSEY WITH 19 MOSQUITO BITES ON MY LEGS WHICH CAUSE ME NOT TO SLEEP!!!

Yeah okay so this letter will probably be short and sweet. This week has been wonderful and not so wonderful the not so wonderful parts well hmmm EVERYONE CANCELLED ON US!! whoop there it is, missionary work! haha But funny stories lets just hear funny things! I know i told you sorry in advance that my letters probably wouldn't be these spiritual letters like Lexi's but i just write what i feel like, what i loved about this week, or what just keeps me going!

OKAY HAHA SO lets start off with the food of my mission. So, we go to this members house and we told them last time that we cant eat at there house cause there is a mission rule that we can only eat at someones house 2 times a month. So we planned on not eating food at there house so we had dinner, and then we went to there house. WELP NOPE. THERE IS FOOD!! i wonder where the miscommunication was at... OHHH YEAH THE LANGUAGE BARRIER THAT IS WHERE ALL THE MISCOMMUNICATION COMES IN!! HAHA  oh and let me just tell you not just food.. STRAIGHT UP SHRIMP LIKE THE WHOLE THING OF THE SHRIMP!!! tentacles, crawlers, THEE EYEBALLS.... oh heck no you know i straight up just prayed and said Heavenly Father you better help me get this down, if you brought me here and knew they were going to feed me this! MIRACLE :) i got it down, about had a nice freak out but i turned to prayer and it worked :) haha

So it was raining and me and the other sisters i live with all went out and played in the rain :) oh and does it RAIN IN NEW JERSEY!!! Now a more spiritual thought. I had the opportunity to have an interview with president. Can i just say i love my president with all my heart. We got in there and he was so interested in how my family was doing and how everything was back at home. Then we continued to talk and he is just so inspired and so uplifting. He told me that he has seen incredible change in me.  He said that he knows i can do this!

wow do i have the BEST family around. I sure do love you guys. I am doing great, the work is slow but it is building! Be safe and know that i love you all!!

ps- sister cheatham wrote me!! SUCH A SWEET GIRL! Also grandma jorgensen wrote me, already wrote her back :) she is just the greatest :) also Lexi and i sent pres a birthday present bubba is getting so big!!!
PPS- mom i got your letter and post card, i sure love how much you think about me! xoxxx

Now you see it truly was a MIRACLE

I think there is a curb and sidewalk under there

Rain days are the best.

Yep! They are following me

July 29,2013

okay, HOLA EVERYONE!

WELL what a week! Its been okay, a little hard but not that bad. I AM LOVED. WOW. Packages from The Hedgers, and Grandma and Grandpa Robinson! OH and the countless letters and post cards, GREATEST FAMILY EVER. This week was very odd just because Sister Morrison has still been on rest so we have to do a lot of splits.

BUT lets start out with my great old born again christian friends! YEP! THEY ARE FOLLOWING ME I SWEAR!! I saw them 4 times in one day. We were at walmart and Sister Atkinson and i were getting honey and i saw them and was about to turn around but we made eye contact. So, we couldn't awkwardly not keep walking so we continued to walk and the guy came up to us and instantly said wow you girls are the ones who think Jesus and Satan are brothers.. I'm like oh HECK NO! DO NOT START WITH US!! haha We proceeded to like kind of talk but not really we just kept looking for our honey. He was relentless. He kept hounding us, and Sister Atkinson started getting mad and just let them have it! Welp there is me.. awkwardly NERVOUS! I just kept saying ya know we got to go, and for 10 minutes in walmart they were just pretty much yelling! I was like oh you are LITERALLY KIDDING! HOW EMBARASSING! We started walking away, and he started walking and talking.. I was like oh no!! I told him to stop talking to us.. We see him wave to someone and of course my heart drops I'm like its another one of them... ITS HIS RIGHT HAND MAN! His good ol buddy! He continued to ream us! I told them goodbye and at the end they said, " We only tell you these things because we LOVE YOU GIRLS." EWWW WHAT NO!! SICKOS!!! YOU DON'T LOVE US!!! We walked away.

Later that day I went running and as we were running i saw them at the stop sign in there pedophile looking van, and they rolled down the window, said hi, and waved with a creepy smile... I felt kind of nervous. We ran about 2 more miles and THERE THEY WERE AGAIN WALKING! Thanks goodness on the other side of the street.. so i thought! NO, they straight up were yelling at us across the street!!! I felt very nervous so we ran home! Later that night me and my companion were walking to our appt. and guess who we see... yeahh don't even get me started!! ahah gross!

Anyways I finished ALMA FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE. I LOVE THE BOOK OF MORMON. i would say that is where my testimony is at. i absolutely love it. Okay the FUN PART! I went to Ellis island! It was so fun, brought back so many memories. Man did i feel a little homesick but i met SO MANY COOL PEOPLE! People from India, Israel, Japan, China, Albania, South Korea, Peru, Mexico, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Russia, Africa... You name it i met them! Almost none of them spoke English it was awesome! I got to use my Spanish haha The little that i know! After we came back and we went to dinner with our senior couple. They are seriously the greatest people ever. They took us out because they felt so bad sister Morrison had to be in the hospital, and they loved how willing we were to help her out!  I will definitely visit them in Utah after the mission! OH ALSO I WILL BE IN THE CHURCH NEWS PAPER!!! SO LOOK FOR ME! I will be in it because of Ellis island :) Send it to me if you can?

I also got a lot of packages this week.. I am so blessed. Tell the Hedgers right now thank you! I gave all the toys away to some kids in my branch that have nothing, and they LOVED THEM!

Okay I hope you all enjoy your trip and your upcoming week :) Your letters and support mean nothing but the world to me. I LOVE YOU ALL. I'm staying strong don't worry about me!
15 months more :)
Love. Hermana Jorgensen! xoxx
